Temporary Time Out
Life is changing (in a good way). Change requires new focus, new dedication, new priorities, and new direction. So looking forward, and after much consideration, I have decided to take a temporary time out blogging. It is just one of those things that will work back into my schedule eventually but I just can't make a priority right now.
What is changing you ask? For one, I can promise you it isn't another baby ;). But it is big and it is going to take up a lot of my time....and when I am ready to jump back into the Blogosphere I will share it with you.
So, for now, I wish you Sequined Sunset readers the *fanciest of fanciest* temporary sign off.
~Until we meet again....

*Fancy* Friday
Okay, so you are probably sick of hearing me talk about pink as I pretty much blog about my love for the color all of the time. Case in point see blog posts here, here, here, here, here, here, and here...is that enough?! Yikes....that is what I call an addiction. Perhaps I should start a group called Pink Addictive Anonymous?
But I can't help it. I'm in love with the color pink...specifically when it is formed into a beautiful dress. I've said on multiple occasions that I would seriously run around all day in pink ball gowns if it was acceptable and practical. But alas, my poor heart knows that the previous statement is quite silly.
So today's *Fancy* Friday is dedicated to pink dresses and daydreaming about prancing around in layers of pink staring out a window or walking a runway or running down the docks.
So to all the *fancies* out there who share my passion for pink, have a wonderful weekend!

My Top 6 *Fancy* Fall Pieces
Oh...Fall. I have been thinking about you lately and all of the things I want to wear. 2012 is definitely full of some *fancy* trends... like the color oxblood, metallic, baroque patterns, polka dots, and modern basics. (Don't you just love the word "oxblood" by the way...sounds so dangerous but so chic!).
In keeping with fall here are my top 6 *fancy* fall pieces.
1. A very cute moto-jacket in oxblood that would literally go with every single thing in my closet.
2. Peplum tops are ingenious. I've always been "hippy" so the cute little flare will help camouflage my problem area without sacrificing style.
3. Baroque and metallic are paired perfectly in this pencil skirt that I would wear on New Year's Eve.
1. I am obsessed with booties and the fact that these have sequins pretty much makes this a done deal.
2. Leather like leggings....need I say more?
3. I love polka dots and would pear this dress with tights and boots, leggings and flats, or pretty heels for a night out.
What are your top *fancy* fall pieces?

Cable Deck Railing
This is the back of our house and you see those 2 middle decks, lower and upper? Well, they are gone! So is the deck on the lower left side.
Our poor little house was uncared for so long that the wood had become rotten, paint was chipped, and pieces were falling apart. So we are giving Blue Shore a much needed face lift!

Plans and development are starting to be thought of and my husband and I are really focusing in on trying to preserve our view as much as possible. I mean who wouldn't want to look out at and see this everyday?!
So we thought cable railing would do the trick nicely and *fancy* Blue Shore up a bit. Cable railing is safe, easy to upkeep, and still lends itself to a pretty view. The proof are in these *fancy* photos below:

A wonderful outdoor dining space flanked by a beautiful deck.

An up close look at how the cable railing doesn't restrict the water views.

I also like the look of what I call "chicken wire" cable. A bit more dense and maybe a bit more practical. Especially with a 2 year old running around who thinks throwing things off ledges is super cool.

What is there not to love? A stunning view right outside your door!

*Fancy* Friday
August is a weird month, sitting right between summer and fall. It is the last hooray to enjoy the warm lake but the first excitement of everything fall....
Like using fresh fish caught directly in front of our house to make this yummy broccoli-stuffed fish recipe.

August is the month to break out pretty long sleeve blouses and I am seriously loving this polka dot one.
We are starting to think about how to re-do the decks on our house and I am loving this railing!

A new pair of pants for fall...they look cute with flats, heels, and ankle boots!
August is the month that our huge group friends makes our annual trek to the UP. A good way to wind down a busy summer, get off the cell phone grid, and appreciate the friendships formed.
Have a *fancy* Friday!

(My) Top Reasons to Wear a Maxi Dress
I can't believe it is already Thursday and I can't believe that it is starting to feel like fall. Summer, where did you go? So, it has got me thinking about what I need to invest in for fall.
Maxi dresses have been all the rage for the past couple of years and sadly I am now just jumping on the bandwagon. I recently discovered why they need...scratch that, deserve a place in my wardrobe.

(My) Top Reasons to Wear a Maxi Dress
1. You don't have to worry about shaving your legs
2. You don't have to worry about crossing your legs
3. You don't have to worry about matching a top and bottom. It is already an entire outfit. This seriously cuts out about 10 minutes out of my morning routine.
4. They transition easily from casual to *fancy* wear.
5. They are super comfortable
6. They are inexpensive
